Founded by Dr. David N. Massie, Town & Country Veterinary Center (known formerly as Town and Country Mobile Veterinary Services) began in 1984 as a mobile veterinary clinic serving the Frankfort area. Dr. Massie is a Mississippi native and 1969 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Massie began practicing in the current location on C. Michael Davenport Blvd. in 2000.

Upon his retirement in 2010, Dr. Massie sold the practice to the current owner, Dr. Stephen Burchett. Originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, Dr. Burchett has practiced in both Frankfort and Shelbyville since receiving his veterinary degree from Auburn University in 2002.
